If not treated, it can cause an infection in the bone of the toe, sores, and heightened pain. It can even lead to an abscess that would need surgery to correct. Those with diabetes need to be extra vigilant to this condition and to seek treatment right away as infections can set in more quickly.

If the toenail has grown deeply into the skin, an x-ray may be needed. We have a new state-of-the-art very low radiation x-ray system on-site to save you time and cost if it's found to be needed.
